Student Testimonials
This program is for you if…
You’re between 16 and 101 and feel drawn to begin a musical practice: harp or guitar — or both.
You’ve held the belief that starting music belongs to childhood, and now you're ready to change that story.
You’re a ceremonialist, healer, coach, or yogi expanding your practice to include live, intentional sound.
You explore neuroscience, biohacking, or mindfulness and want to develop music as a tool for cognitive, emotional, and spiritual presence.
You want to sing and play your favorite songs on guitar or harp, or both! From the Beatles to Beyoncé, from Danit to David Bowie, from Leonard Cohen to Led Zeppelin, and an array of ceremonial songs and mantras… We love all music!

Choose the Harp or Guitar
HARP: Roosebeck 22-String Fully Levered Harp is the best choice for this mentorship.
GUITAR: We love ¾ guitars like Cordoba or Martin because they’re smaller and easy to play, but pop into a guitar shop and choose an acoustic guitar that resonates. Scarlett uses a classical nylon string Yamaha TransAcoustic guitar, it’s a matter of personal taste, really. Classical strings for a softer more feminine sound and steel strings if you want to rock out and strum.
-
You’ll register through Yawajourneys, a team that works directly with the Yawanawa. The cost of the immersion is $2,000 USD if booked before August 15th, plus the cost of international and domestic flights and extra incidentals.
Accomodation, ceremony, and nourishment for the retreat are included.
-
Yes. We offer flexible payment options and a limited number of work-trade scholarships each cohort. Details are provided during the application process.
The Neuroscience of Learning Music:
Learning music as an adult supports real, lasting changes in the brain. This program uses instruments, voice, and rhythm to improve focus, memory, and emotional well-being through a process called neuroplasticity, your brain’s ability to grow and adapt.
The Benefits
Increases gray matter in brain areas related to memory, attention, and coordination
(Gaser & Schlaug, 2003)
Improves communication between brain hemispheres, enhancing cognitive flexibility and focus
(Schlaug et al., 2009)Strengthens auditory and motor systems, supporting better listening and physical precision
(Herholz & Zatorre, 2012)Boosts mood-regulating chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, reducing stress and anxiety
(Salimpoor et al., 2011)Activates neuroplasticity, helping the brain adapt, learn new skills, and build long-term resilience
(Wan & Schlaug, 2010)
